CHAN 2023: Micho living in his past after Cranes group stage exit

Uganda Cranes failed to qualify from the group stages of CHAN tournament for the 6th consecutive time after a 3-1 loss to Ivory coast as they managed to finish third with four points.

The Cranes only needed jus a point as they headed in their last group stage game in order to break their group stage jinx.

Uganda cranes head coach Micho’Multin Sredjovic revealed how disappointed he was after failing to qualify from Group stages with 4 points which was the same case with the 2014 Edition

In the 2014 CHAN  edition Which was in South Africa, Uganda Cranes won 2-1 against Burkina Faso, drew 0-0 with Zimbabwe and lost 3-1 to Morocco 

“l am very disappointed with the fact that after 2014 this was our biggest chance for us to progress” he said after the Ivory Coast defeat

” On both Occasions, We finished on four points  and unfortunately four points are not enough to progress to the next round “

” Compared to other editions l believe we have given our best starting from the preparations and l would like to give Credit to FUFA and everyone who has supported us “

” l Commend the players for their performance and commitment because we had a good game and the result did not reflect what the boys put on the pitch and what we deserved ” he concluded

Uganda Cranes finished 3rd with 4 points, Scored 2 goals and Conceded 3 goals

Uganda Cranes drew 0-0 with DR Congo, won 1-0 against Senegal and lost 3-1 against Ivory Coast

Uganda Cranes have now gone 6 consecutive CHAN tournaments with out qualifying from the group stages many by an African Country that is 2011, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 and now 2022
