Abbey Bogere Kikomeko: BUL Appoint New Coach

Uganda Premier League side BUL FC have confirmed Abbey Bogere Kikomeko as their new head coach.

The gaffer has been unveiled today at the Club’s offices in Masese, Jinja ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Kikomeko takes over from Simeone Masaba who steered the club into the latter stages of the season after the departure of Alex Isabirye to Vipers.

Last season’s backroom staff including Masaba, Baker Kasule, James Magala, Noah Kasule Babadi and Dan Kabale has been retained.

Kikomeko joins BUL just after helping Mbale Heroes earn FUFA Big League promotion, beating Bukedea Central in final 7-0 on aggregate.

But Kikomeko who holds a CAF B Licence, is notably remembered for his good work at neighbours Busoga United, a side he promoted to UPL in 2015 then as Kirinya Jinja SS.

Kikomeko will fancy his chances to succeed at BUL, a club that struggled for points in the second round after Isabirye’s departure.

They failed to win a league game in 14 matches, and went on to finish a lowly eighth, off the back of a season where they had finished fourth and won the Uganda Cup title.

Before Kikomeko’s arrival, BUL parted ways with three players – Richard Wandyaka, Ivan Wani and goalkeeper Emmanuel Kalyowa.

The side will be expected to bring in new faces to prepare for what promises to be a good season ahead.
