Ahmed Kassa drilled in 20 points against his former team KIU Titans but the effort proved not enough for JKL Dolphins.

Kassa who recently left the Titans in the concluded mid-season transfer window, was 6-for-13 from the field, in a commendable performance that could have won the game on any other day.

The shooting guard was taken off in the closing minutes, and he deservedly received an ovation from the fans including those from the Titans.

It has been a good start for Kassa at JKL, having scored 14 points on his debut against UPDF Tomahawks on Saturday at YMCA.

Fadhil Chuma had a double double of 13 points and 11 rebounds while Derrick Katumba who missed some easy lay-ups, contributed 10 points for the Dolphins.

It’s the ninth loss for JKL Dolphins who also lost the first round tie against KIU Titans 44-59.

For KIU Titans, it’s a strong start to the second round in a game they led from start to finish.

But they almost squandered a 27-point lead at one stage when JKL scored 19 unanswered points to close the gap.

Innocent Ochera had 13 points while Amisi Saidi and Isaiah Mabeny Ateer scored 14 points each in the win.

Denis Balungu made his season debut, managing 6 points, in a game he was limited to just 9 minutes.

In the Ladies game, A1 Challenge improved their survival chances with a hard fought 53-49 victory over Nabisunsa Girls.

Maria Goretti Angole (17pts and 10rebs) and Cathy Kekimuli (10pts and 15rebs) scored double doubles as A1 Challenge collected their third win of the season in 13 games.
