Shadir Musa Vs David Ssemujju: Gauntlet Thrown Down

Earlier last week, Former Bombers captain who doubles as an Olympian Shadir Musa Bwogi launched his quest for Africa Boxing Union title (ABU) East and Central Africa due 19th of August at MTN Arena Lugogo with a yet to be known opponent.

At the launch, Shadir warned all Boxers in Middle weight and light Middle to vacate or else face humiliation.

“Don’t tell me the likes of Magumba and others that I have beaten since amateur level. I need fresh faces and humiliate them as well like I have done to the so called seniors,” Shadir Musa roared then.

“I need those that feel they can challenge me because these days I work in Electricity and caliform to stop people in a few rounds – Kabona Meddie Sebyala or John Sserunjogi can tell me if they’re ready to be humiliated.”

Shadir Musa’s words did not sit well with fellow Olympian and old rival David Kavuma Ssemujju, who prefers to be called ‘The animal’.

And he has openly announced his readiness to challenge his former captain.

“I saw him bragging around after beating beginners, and he knows me very well,” Ssemujju retaliated.

“Although he was favoured by Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) because he was a darling, I am ready to humiliate him like I did when I made him miss the Burundi East African games at amateur level!

“I am the best Boxer apparently in Uganda and I doubt he will accept my challenge because I want him in 12 rounds and I call up on all promoters to pick interest in this.”

Shadir Musa Bwogi and David Ssemujju met five times at amateur level with the former winning 4 and Ssemujju winning just once.

Ssemujju is an Olympian who competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic but also a silver Medalist at the All Africa games 2019 held in Rabat Morocco.

Shadir Musa captained the Bombers team for close to a year but as well competed in the 2020 Olympics after defeating Ghana’s Jesse Lartey in the welter weight box – off in Senegal.

Shadir has four professional fights, won all against Herbert Mugarura, Henry Kigongo Kasujja, Ivan Magumba and recently James Mutumwa.

Ssemujju has three fights winning all against Hamza Latigo, Samali Ntambi and Herbert Mugarura.

Only time will tell is the battle of two Olympians will soon come to a reality.
