Masaza Cup: Mawokota retain Malinga for fourth straight season

Mawokota Ssaza have retained coach Richard Malinga as their head coach for a fourth consecutive year ahead of the upcoming Masaza Cup 2023 edition.

These new developments ware confirmed on thursday at Mawokota Ssaza headquarters in Butoolo at a function that was graced by the county chief Kayima Gabriel Kabonge.

It was also confirmed that Malinga will be assisted by Eric Kisuze, with Mutumba Adad acting as the goalkeeping coach.

Mawokota, who are in the Muganzirwaza group will open their campaign against defending champions Busiro on Saturday, 24th at the Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

In their group, they are also dipped alongside
Gomba, Ssese, Mawogola and Kabula.

For the past four editions, Mawogola, under Malinga have been unlucky as they have been eliminated at the quarter final stage on all occasions.

And by retaining Malinga, they will be hoping for a better tournament, starting with their first game against defending champions Busiro.

They will also be seeking for their fourth Masaza Cup title after successes in 2005, 2007 and 2013.

2023 Masaza Cup Groups:

•Bulange – Ssingo, Bulemeezi, Butambala, Buvuma, Bugerere, Busujju

•Masengere – Buddu, Buweekula, Kyaggwe, Kyadondo, Buluuli, Kkooki

•Muganzirwaza – Busiro, Gomba, Mawokota, Ssese, Mawogola, Kabula
