Mbale Heroes Champions of Eastern Region, Edge Closer To Big League

Mbale Heroes FC we’re crowned champions of 2022/23 Eastern Region League after overcoming Kigulu United FC on Sunday.

Akram Shafic Muzanyi headed in the all important goal in the 51st minute in a closely contested Eastern Regional League final.

Mbale Heroes reached the final having topped the Bukedi group while Kigulu United on the other hand had finished top of the Nile group.

The game at Butaleja Boma Grounds was officiated by former FIFA referee Ronald Madanda.

Mbale Heroes could have won comfortably but Mark Bamukyaye wasted a good chance to double the lead from the spot.

Mbale Heroes will now face North Eastern Regional League champions Bukedea Central in the FUFA Big League promotional playoff.

And the winner on aggregate from that home and away fixture, will earn a spot in next season’s FUFA Big League.

Mbale Heroes will be on the road in the first leg of the playoff on Saturday, June 17 at Emokori playgrounds in Bukedea before hosting the second leg on Thursday June 22 at Mbale Stadium.

Mbale Heroes FC missed qualifation to Big League last season after losing 1-0 to Jinja North United FC in the playoff but they now have chance to make amends in the crucial two games
