Nam Blazers bounced back to winning ways with a deserved 67-51 victory over UPDF Tomahawks at Lugogo in the National Basketball League.

The Blazers came into the game on the back of a loss against rivals KIU Titans, but they managed to make amends on Friday night.

Coach Stephen ‘Esco’ Nyeko’s charges were up to the task and quicky got out of the blocks to establish their authority in the game.

They were up 18-13 after the first quarter and stretched the lead to 12 points at halftime.

UPDF fought back to win the third quarter 18-09 to cut the deficit to just three points going into the last quarter.

But the Blazers showed their quality when they opened the fourth quarter with a 16-2 run, and never looked back before winning a 16-point game.

Peter Cheng scored a 24-point and 15-rebound double double while Geoffrey Soro added 10 points.

Chris Omanye had a season high 10 assists and added 9 points and 3 assists to his tally for the Blazers.

Only Michael Kojo (11) reached double digits for UPDF in scoring.

David Opolot was 0-for-10 from the field while the whole UPDF team turned over the ball 27 times.

UPDF who missed star player Arthur Wanyoto, have now lost seven of their 10 games this season.

For the Blazers, it’s their sixth win of the season and they will return to action against Ndejje Angels this Sunday at Abja Parks, Naalya.

In the Ladies fixture, KCCA Leopards squeezed past John Omondi’s Magic Stormers to win 64-63.

Leanne Nalunkuma who scored a game-winner, weighed in with 18 points while Angella Namirimu added 12.

Magic Stormers who led for most parts of the game, missed two successive game-winning layups down the stretch.
