National Enterprise Corporation Football Club (NEC FC) has been promoted to the Uganda Premier League.
The Bugolobi-based side managed to pick a needed win, beating Kataka FC 4-1, to finish the 2022/23 FUFA Big League season in third place with 57 points.
Julius Walugembe scored a brace while Tonny Kiberu and Marvin Kavuma added a goal each at Mbale Municipal Stadium.
They join Kitara and Mbarara City as the three new teams that will play in the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League season.
Coming into the game, NEC who were just above Police by just a point, needed nothing but a win.
And their promotion was made easy after Police were held to a 1-1 draw by Jinja North United at Kavumba Recreation ground.
It has been a story of meteoric rise for NEC who were promoted in the Big League last season after beating Water FC in the playoffs.
