Maroons Punch Holes In Villa Title Surge

Wednesday, May 3
*Bright Stars 2-0 Busoga United
*Arua Hill 4-1 Express
*Maroons 1-0 SC Villa
*Blacks Power 1-1 URA

SC Villa missed a chance to stretch their lead at the top after losing 1-0 at Luzira against Maroons in the Uganda Premier League.

Ronald Orombi struck a loose ball just from outside the box after Villa failed to clear away from danger for the only goal of the game.

Villa made several attempts to find a leveller but couldn’t beat an outstanding Simon Tamale in Maroons goal.

Villa, remain on top with 46 points after 25 games, but the loss derails their title push.

The result is two steps backwards for Villa who recently took a major stride in their title ambition when they beat Vipers at Wankulukuku.

Results like this, including a home loss against Arua Hill last month, continue to show doubt in Villa’s title chase.

Villa have played two and three more games on KCCA (45) and Vipers (42) respectively.

And with KCCA visiting Vipers this Friday in a rescheduled game, whatever result at the final whistle will not be in Villa’s favour.

For Maroons on the other hand, they move way up to fifth with 37 points and if they can hold on, they are set to clinch their best finish in a recent while.

What Next – Maroons visit Gaddafi on April 9 while SC Villa will welcome Blacks Power on the same date at Wankulukuku
