University Football League: KIU edge Kumi University to register first win

Kampala International University 2-0 Kumi University.

Kasanga based side International University registered their first win in the ongoing Pepsi University Football League when they edged Kumi University on a 2-0 score.

Both teams started with equal efforts though KIU become a threat in the later minutes.

In the 20th minute, KIU saw their beautiful chance through a free kick deflected to a corner kick.

Four minutes, a quick reaction play saw KIU breaking the deadlock with Harry Ssempijja comfortably tapping in after a well delivered pass from Wasswa Abdul.

In the 30th minute, KIU had othe scoring chances though Ssekandi Patrick couldn’t register his shoot on target.

Kumi returned to second half recharged and Abit more physical than first half.

They created some chances but failed to convert.

In the 58th minute, Wasswa Abdul doubled the lead for KIU after the exciting Foward dribbled past two Kumi defenders and shoot the ball wide to the far post.

KIU head coach Akabwai had a say after the game.

” l am pleased with our first win of the season, we made efforts to rectify our previous mistakes, seizing the perfect opportunity to do so”.

KIU now equal points with Busitema on three while UCU tops the grp with 6.
