FUFA Big League: Kitara FC crowned 2022/2023 champions, NEC FC, Mbarara City promoted to UPL

The FUFA Big League 2022/2023 season climaxed with a couple of jubilations as the Kitara FC defeated Kaaro Karungi by a 1-0 score to be crowned champions.

Paul Mucureezi scored the only goal of the game to gift Kitara FC a deserved wun as they wrote history to clinch their maiden Big league trophy as they saw off competition from rivals Mabarara City who also won their match against Northern Gateway.

Kitara finished top of the log with 61points from the 30 games played with just one point ahead of Mbarara City who won Northern Gateway by a 3-0 score but only managed to finish second on the table with 60points.

NEC FC managed to claim a massive 4-1 victory against Kataka away from home as they sealed their promotion to the top flight football in style as they saw off competition from Police FC.

Police FC were also chasing for the last qualifying spot to Uganda Premier League but they failed short after playing out to a 1-1 draw against Jinja North United.

This draw saw Police finish in the fourt position on the log with 54 points as NEC ended on 57 points as they sealed the way to top flight football with just a season played in Big league.

Elsewhere, Soroti City, Adjumani TC FC, Luweero United and Northern Gateway were relegated from the FUFA Big league.
