By Wasswa Juma

Uganda Cranes foward Rogers Mato has joined Turkish Second division side Sanliurfa Spor Kulubu.

Rogers Mato joins Sanliurfa Spor Kulubu from 13 time Uganda Premier league winners KCCA FC.

Mato joined KCCA FC in 2021/2022 season from Proline and he had signed a four year working contract with the Lugogo based side.

His contract could run him till 2025/2026 season at Lugogo, however his last season’s performance might have lured Sanliurfa for his signature.

Last season, Rogers Mato scored 15 goals for KCCA FC in all competitions, a performance that earned him the topscorer award for the team.

Leave alone the club level, Rogers Mato was also an hero while scoring the only goal for Uganda Cranes against Tanzania in Dar es salaam in AFCON Qualifiers.

Despite KCCA FC, Mato joins Turkish side after picking experience from FUFA Juniors league with clubs like Lweza FC Junior team, Maroons FC Junior team, and Proline FC Junior team.

Mato’s new team Sanliurfa features in TFF Second League and hosts games at Sanliurfa GAP Stadium.
