The Uganda Olympics Committee (UOC) has officially confirmed a 9 man team that will represent Uganda at the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics Boxing qualifiers to be held in Senegal.

The Bombers team has seen the return of former Bombers captain Shadir Musa ‘Bwogi’ and Kavuma David Ssemujju to the squad that will take part in the upcoming qualifiers.

Both Shadir Musa and Kavuma David Ssemujju were part of the Bombers team that represented the country at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics alongside Catherine Nanziri but later the trio turned to professional boxing after some disagreements with the Uganda Boxing Federation on the contracts to play in the Champions League.

With the International Olympics Committee (IOC) taking full responsibility of organising all the games at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Boxing as a sport was affected as the slots were limited to 7 for the African continent hence getting involved into the qualifying process.

This has seen the Uganda Olympics Committee take full responsibility on the selection of Boxers who will represent Uganda at the Olympics qualifiers in Senegal with Shadir Musa and Kavuma David Ssemujju being selected to be part of the squad that will travel to Senegal.

The team of 9 Boxers will have one lady take part in the qualifying tournament with Grace Nankinga the silver medalist from the African Elite Boxing Championship coming back to take the place of Nakalema Emily who defeated her in the qualifying round held at Clubs Obligato.

The list is full of surprises as most of the Bombers who won in the qualifications Bouts at Week 8 special Edition of the Uganda Boxing Champions League have been dropped with some experience being considered on the team.

Kyobe Jonah is also part of the team despite losing in the qualification round against Murungi Kassim as Matovu Ukasha, Mawanda Shafik and Mukiibi Idriisa who didn’t take part in the qualifying round are also part of the team.

This leaves the team with only the captain Joshua Tukamuhebwa and Isaac Zebra Ssenyange as the only two boxers who remain after winning their qualifications rounds.

The team to travel to Senegal will have a huge list of officials higher than the athletes which totals to 11 officials.
