NEC Confirm Mbalangu as New Head Coach

Newly Promoted UPL side NEC FC have confirmed Hussein Mbalangu as their new head coach for the upcoming season.

Mbalangu, who was confirmed on Friday replaces Micheal Skills Lukyamuzi who earlier resigned from his role last week.

The club also confirmed that Mbalangu will be assisted by Dudu Bosco.

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Hussein Mbalangu as head coach NEC FC, reads part of the statement from NEC FC”

“Mbalangu will be assisted by Dudu Bosco who has also been appointed as assistant head coach”

Mbalangu joins the Bugolobi based side from Blacks Power, a side he had joined last year in October.

At Blacks Power, things didn’t work out well last season as they were relegated back to the FUFA Big League.

But despite last season’s disappointments, Mbalangu brings in a vast experience to NEC FC, having handled a couple of top clubs in and outside the country.

He is most remembered for guiding Arua Hill to the Uganda Premier League back in 2021 where they got promoted unbeaten throughout their entire Big League campaign.

Mbalangu also had stints at Mbarara City, Azam FC in Tanzania and Banadir FC (Somalia).

His assistant Dudu crosses from Big League side Calvary FC, a side he joined last season from Onduparaka.

At NEC FC, Mbalangu’s immediate task will be to enable the newly promoted side maintain their stay in the top flight in what will be their first time in the top League.
