KCCA To Earn CAF Confederation Cup Ticket

KCCA FC will represent Uganda at the CAF Confederation Cup next season, awaiting confirmation from FUFA.

Per FUFA rules on Ugandan representatives on the Continent, the position normally goes to the Uganda Cup winner.

But in the incident when the team wins a double, both League and Cup, the CAF Confederation Cup slot goes to the second team in the League.

On Saturday, Vipers beat Police 1-0 to win the Uganda Cup and also seal a double having won the League a week back.

Vipers initially booked a place in CAF Champions League after winning the UPL title.

And KCCA gets the ticket to the Secondary CAF Club Competition after finishing second in the League.

FUFA rules on Continental representations read in part:

“The final positions of the Uganda Cup Competitions shall provide the priority order of eligibility to represent Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“6) Article 16(4) and (5) notwithstanding, the FUFA Executive Committee shall decide the club to represent Uganda in any other International Club Competitions.

“7) Where a club wins both the Uganda Cup and tops the 1st Division League Table, FUFA shall only nominate such club to represent Uganda in the CAF Club Champions League and FUFA shall nominate the runners up of the 1st division league to represent Uganda in CAF Confederations Cup.”
