Fortebet Real Stars Awards – Five Winners Crowned

Five athletes were rewarded for their excellence in the concluded month of May at the Fortebet Real Stars Awards.

The brief but colourful ceremony was held on Tuesday at Lazio restaurant for the awards that are sponsored by Fortebet Uganda and Jude Colour Solutions.

Simon Tamale was named the best player of the month ahead of Milton Karisa (Vipers) and Paul Mucureezi (Kitara).

The Maroons goalkeeper kept four clean-sheets in five games to help the Luzira based side end the season in sixth with 41 points.

Rose Amaniyo is the best basketball player of the month thanks to her MVP performance with St Mary’s SS Kitende at the USSSA games.

Amaniyo who beat Peter Cheng (Nam Blazers) and Diana Letaru (KIU Rangers), has also been outstanding in the NBL with KIU.

The best Rugby player went to Ivan Magomu who helped Pirates notably beat KOBs in a title decider at Legends to win their second ever League title.

Magomu who had a 100% kicking record on the day, edged Pirates teammates Moses Zziwa and Ivan Kabagambe.

The best Rally crew went to Yassin Nasser and his Co-driver Ali Katumba, beating Duncan Mubiru/Joseph Bongole and Byron Rugomoka/Hakim Mawanda.

Nasser finished third at Pearl of Africa Rally (winners in ARC category) in a time of 2:40.41, in the same month they won the Iringa Rally in Tanzania.

Youngster Gloria Aya is the best Netball player after helping NIC defend the East Africa Netball championship in Kenya at the tournament she was named as the best player.

Aya who also guided St Noa to USSSA games success, beat off competition from Stella Nanfuka (Prisons) and Rachael Nanyonga (NIC).
