Goalkeeper Simon Tamale Plotting Next Move

Goalkeeper Simon Tamale is contemplating his next move, The Maroons player has told The-SportsNation.

In an interview with this Website, Tamale has confirmed that his contract with Maroons has expired and he is a free agent.

He is set to leave Maroons just after a season having joined the Luzira-based side in August last year.

“My contract at Maroons has ended, and I am a free agent,” Tamale opened up with The-SportsNation.

He revealed that he has held contracts with Maroons for a renewal but no agreement has been made.

Tamale will be a hot cake in this window after a stellar season that saw him better every shot-stopper in the division, statistically.

He finished the 2022/23 Uganda Premier League campaign with 13 clean-sheets in 23 games.

He commented: “It has been a wonderful season for me and I have to credit my hard-work I put in especially during training both personal and as a team.”

And despite establishing himself as the number one choice goalkeeper at the Club ahead of Emmanuel Akol, Tamale did not receive a National team call.

With Coach Milutin Micho Sredejovich preferring the two local based goalkeepers – Alionzi Nafian (URA) and Joel Mutakubwa (Gaddafi).

“Playing on the National team is every goalkeeper’s dream, but it’s the Uganda Cranes coach to have the final say,” Tamale added.

“May be my time has not yet arrived and I will be patient, I will not quit and my moment will arrive.”

The former Bright Stars goalkeeper has held spells with Mutundwe Lions and Police.
