Preview: Villa Have Chance To Stretch Lead

SC Villa will be seeking to extend their lead at the top of the Uganda Premier League when they take a short visit to Luzira to face Maroons.

After KCCA FC drawing on Tuesday, SC Villa can move four points clear on top of the table with a win.

They are on 46 points from 24 games, one above KCCA who have played one game less.

However, Vipers in third with 42 points, have the advantage on paper having played just 22 games.

But with KCCA and Vipers facing off at Kitende this Friday, Villa can hope for better.

The Jogoos showed their intent with a 1-0 win over Vipers thanks to Charles Bbaale’s goal at Wankulukuku.

That was a good reaction and motivation after the side were beaten 4-1 at Lugogo by KCCA FC.

Against Maroons, they face a side with less to fight for at the moment as the Prison Warders can no longer be relegated at this stage of the season.

Maroons are seventh on the table with 33 points from 23 games.

They have proved a hard nut to crack especially against the top sides including picking four points against KCCA this season.

They have lost once in the league at Luzira this season, and that was a 1-3 shocking loss to Blacks Power in November last year.

Vipers only managed to walk away with a draw when they visited Luzira while KCCA lost 1-0.

Villa at Maroons promises to be a tricky encounter though after events in the first round fixture.

Villa won 1-0 in a game played in Lira, with Patrick Jonah Kakande scoring a beauty after beating three players Jacob Okao, Fred Okot and Ceaser Olega.

Villa finished the game a man down after Kenneth Ssemakula deliberately handled the ball to deny a goal scoring opportunity.

And Fred Amaku had his penalty saved by Meddie Kibirige, and a rebound!
