Alex Isabirye returns to URA FC

Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club have officially confirmed the appointment of Alex Isabirye ‘Musongola’ as their new head coach.

Isabirye put pen to paper on a one year working  contract replacing David Obua who was sacked before the end 2023/2024 season as confirmed by the club website.

“We are delighted to officially announce the appointment of Alex Isabirye Musongola as our new head coach, signing him on a one-year contract.” Read a statement from the URA FC website.

Alex Isabirye returns to the club in a second stint as head coach after serving his first term and guiding the tax collectors to their last UPL title in 2010/2011 season with a Uganda Cup trophy in 2012.

Club CEO Allan Munaaba is hope the return of Isabirye will be key in pursue of their glory days.

“We are optimistic that Isabirye’s return will revive our glory days, with his vast experience and previous success with the team being seen as key assets. His immediate challenge will be preparing the squad for the grand opening of the newly refurbished Nakivubo War memorial Stadium where we last won our league title as home ground.”

Isabirye is tasked to prepare the club ahead of the new season and his first match will be a test match against Kitara FC on 1st June on the reopening of Nakivbo War Memorial stadium.
