Grant Matsiko: Vipers Confirm Fifth Signing

Vipers SC have completed the signing of right-back Grant Matsiko, the club has confirmed on their website.

As reported earlier by TheSportsNation, Matsiko has put pen to paper on a two-year employment contract that will keep him at Kitende until 2025.

The announcement comes now when last season’s double winners who clinched both the league and league cup titles are preparing for a long season ahead, in which they want to replicate their last season’s heroics.

Another reason why the Venoms need a wider squad is because they will also be competiting in the CAF Champions League.

“I’m very happy to be here and I want to win a lot with this club because it’s an amazing club,” Matsiko said after being unveiled at Kitende.

“I want to be a big part of this club and now, I have to level up and show another personality of me on the pitch because this is a demanding and ambitious team.”

Seemingly ready and we’ll prepared for the hard task ahead, the defender will have to face direct competition with Ashraf Mandela for a starting place in the right back position.

A former player at Kigezi Homeboyz, Matsiko has spent the past two seasons Wakiso Giants FC, bit it was last season where he was most impressive, attracting the Venoms to lure him to Kitende.

Logically, the right back was the best in his position last season, justifying his inclusion in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) team of the season at the Pilsner UPL Awards.

Matsiko is so far the fifth player to join the Venoms at Kitende in the ongoing transfer window after Giancarlo Lopez Rodriguez, Luiz Otavio Santos de Araujo commonly known as Tinga, Richard Matovu and David Bagoole.
