Baby Cricket Cranes Squad For World Cup Qualifiers Named

Fahad Mutagana will lead a team of 14 Baby Cricket Cranes players at the ICC U-19 Men’s World Cup Africa Qualifiers set to take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania between 23rd to 29th July.

Mutagana captained the side during the Indian tour in May! He has once again been entrusted with steering the team as Uganda seeks to play at the U19 World Cup for the fourth time.

The Baby Cricket Cranes will be without one of their all-rounders Christopher Kidega. Kidega was part of the team that went to India, but he misses out on the qualification journey due to an injury. Peter Ochen was also part of the team that went to India, but couldn’t make the cut.

Joseph Baguma and Pius Oloka are back in the team. The two were in Namibia with the Cricket Cranes for the Bilateral Castle Lite Series that ended last week.

The Baby Cricket Cranes entered residential camp in Entebbe on Monday as they get set for the Qualifiers that will have Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Namibia, Kenya, Uganda and hosts Tanzania compete in.

Uganda has played at the U19 World Cup three times (in 2004, 2006 and mostly recently in 2022). They will be hoping to best everyone in Tanzania as they look to secure their ticket to Sri Lanka where the main showpiece will take place next year.

Uganda will bowl off the tournament against Namibia on Sunday, 23rd at the Dar Gymkhana Grounds in Dar es Salaam.
