Express To Start Women’s Football Team

Uganda Premier League side Express FC has confirmed establishing a Women’s football team.

This follows a recent directive from CAF for every team to have a Women’s team as a licensing requirement to take part in it’s competition.

Uganda’s CAF representatives this season Vipers and KCCA consequently entered partnerships with Wakiso Hill and Kampala Queens respectively.

Express said that there considered to collaborate with already existing women’s teams before opting to form a team of their own.

New Express chairman Suubi Kiwanuka said: “I am excited about the women’s team because it is an opportunity for the club to venture into something it has wanted for a long time.”

“We are following FUFA, CAF and FIFA regulations. Our fans should be excited because this is going to be handled well and with the support it deserves.”

Express did not confirm whether the team will be up and running this new season but said that the club will participate in the Kampala Regional Women’s Football League in its first year.

In addition, the club will have home grown talent and strictly use students only for its first season.
