Nam Blazers pummeled KCCA Panthers thanks to a 76-42 victory in the National Basketball League on Sunday at YMCA court in Wandegeya.

It was another dominant display for Stephen Nyeko’s side who led the one-sided contest from start until the final buzzer.

The Blazers were up by just three points after the first quarter but extended the gap to 14 points (38-24) at halftime.

The lead was widened further after KCCA were limited to just six points in an entire third quarter, and at this point, the outcome was all but sealed.

Peter Cheng was once again the club’s outstanding player with a double double of 20 points and 10 rebounds while Chuol Nyuot also had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Guards Wadaya Blair (18) and Dickson Asiku (12) scored in double digits on the evening.

Namuwongo rested two key players Michael Makiadi and Chris Omanye while Jimmy Williams sat out nursing an injury.

KCCA who managed just six points off the bench, did not have a single player to score in double digits.

The win maintains Namuwongo’s grip at the top of the table, with a 16-4 record.

But unbeaten City Oilers (15-0) remain favourites for top spot having played five games fewer.

The victory, off the back of a 66-47 win over UCU Canons on Friday, is the eighth in a row for Namuwongo.

Last year’s runners up will be ending the regular season with two remaining games against Rezlife Saints and Our Saviour, both at YMCA.

The loss, 10th for KCCA Panthers, comes off the back of the club’s two successive wins against Kampala Rockets and UPDF Tomahawks.

Speaking of UPDF, the Army-side ended their poor run with a shocking 57-53 victory over UCU Canons.

Felix Mukunzi contributed 15 Points in the win while Lwabaga Ibanda’s 16 points proved not enough for UCU who continued to miss Coach Nicholas Natuhereza who is in Kabale for USSSA Ball games.

JKL Lady Dolphins Vs Kampala University was not played as the former has five players on the National team (Gazelles) preparing for Women Afrobasket.

KIU Rangers Vs Magic Stormers was also not played on the latter’s request whose head coach John Omondi is with Uganda Junior teams at FIBA U16 Afrobasket Championship in Tunisia.
