But Nkumba fought back, and midway through the quarter, Patience Mauso held her nerves to convert both free throws and tie the game at 41-41.

The lead exchanged hands from thereafter, but with Kampala University leading by just a point, Mauso then scored a jumper before Nancy Sombei made one of the two free throws down the stretch to win by just two points.

Mercy Batamuliza scored 20 points and 29 rebounds, Anywanzwa Lydia scored 17 points while none of the Kampala University players reached five points!

For Nkumba, the win is a bright spot in a season they have barely threatened, highlighted by humbling losses a against JKL Lady Dolphins (130-49) and KIU Rangers (96-42).

The result blows the relegation contest wide open, with other candidates Angels on three wins while A1, Nabisunsa and Kampala University still on four wins.
