Women T20 League: Soroti, Olila Eye Title On Final Day

Soroti City will head into their final two games of the season on Saturday looking to be crowned champions of the National Women’s T20 League for the first time in their history.

The side coached by Wilfred Ogwang will face bottom side Tornado Bees at the Green Oval in Entebbe in what is expected to be a history making game.

They head into the game top of the table with 18 points, and only need to win that double header to lift the trophy. They will be confident of doing exactly that given the opposition they’re facing.

Tornado Bees have lost nine of their ten games , with that sole victory coming last weekend against Jinja SS.

Despite the strength of their opponents, the table leaders will know that they can not take anything for granted as any slip up will deny them success.
Their rivals Olila High are placed third in the standings but just two points below the top spot.

As Soroti will be taking on Tornado Bees, Olila will be facing Pioneer at the Jinja SS Oval. Should Soroti lose one of their games, and Olila win both, the latter will be crowned champions.

Soroti losing one game and Olila winning both would mean the two teams finish with the same number of points, 20, but Olila would win the league on a net run rate.

The league enters it’s final round of games with perennial winners Aziz Damani out of the title winning equation. Damani has won the league four times in a row, but they’re likely to finish third this term.

They currently sit second with 17 points, but having played their last games last weekend, they will drop to third if Olila win at least one of their games.
