•Uganda Vs Algeria – 6pm

Uganda face off with Algeria in their penultimate Group F AFCON Qualifier at the Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon.

The Cranes are hosting in Cameroon after no stadium in Uganda could meet CAF standards.

And coming into the game, the Cranes need a positive result to keep their qualification chances alive.

Algeria on the other hand, have already qualified to AFCON due next year in Ivory Coast.

Aissa Mandi and Youcef Belaili scored the goals in June last year in Algiers for the Desert Foxes.

“We are looking forward to the game on Sunday which is very important. It is a lifetime chance to be at this stage,” said Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Salim Jamal.

“It is a chance for us to go through to the next round if we beat Algeria. With the squad we have, we just have to keep the spirit together.

“It is a mixture of young and experienced players. It is a moment for this generation to make history this time around against Algeria which is a big country when it comes to football. With the main focus on qualifying, we have to do our best so that we get the points on Sunday.”

It’s strong to note that one ticket is still up for grabs in Group F – The Cranes are level in everything with Tanzania, on four points each, with the Taifa Stars who welcome Niger in the earlier fixture.

Uganda’s last game will be away against Niger, who will remain in contention for an AFCON ticket if they avoid defeat in Tanzania today.

It remains to be seen which kind of Algeria will show up against the Cranes given that they already qualified for AFCON, and have a big International Friendly on Tuesday, June 20 at home against Tunisia.

Coach Djamel Belmadi named a strong squad to Cameroon, including Man City winger Riyad Mahrez, Aymen Mahious (USM Algers), Islam Slimami (Anderlecht), Saidi Benrahma (West Ham) and Houssem Aouar (Lyon).

Uganda Cranes Probable Lineup – Salim Jamal, Geoffrey Wasswa, Aziz Kayondo, Gift Fred, Halid Lwaliwa, Khalid Aucho, Bobosi Byaruhanga, Farouk Miya, Milton Karisa, Fahad Bayo, Emmanuel Okwi

How To Watch – Locally, the game will be live on Sanyuka Prime and FUFA TV. It’s also live on Select One (Gotv) and Super Sport Football (DStv). It’s also live on Sports Premium.
