Vipers Confirm Releasing Eight Players

Uganda Premier League champions Vipers have confirmed the departure of eight players.

Among the released players, who were confirmed on wednesday morning is exciting midfielder Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye.

Zaga, who is a St. Mary’s Kitende graduate had returned to the club in January 2022, after ending his stay at Police.

But ever since his return, Zaga, a darling to many Vipers faithful failed to cement a starting place at Kitende on his second stint at the club.

His performance has however stalled partly due to lack of playing time given the stiff competition at Vipers and his personal addictions, that he has had as a player.

But at Vipers, he leaves as a three-time Uganda Premier League champion and also won two Uganda Cup titles.

The other released players include the Congolese trio of Olivier Osomba, Garcia Mpongo Mbombo and Serge Robert Mwenge.

The three leave Kitende after just one season having joined the side at the start of the season last year.

But ever since their arrival, they lacked enough playing time and also affected by injuries.

Defender Bashir Asiku and midfielder Musa Ssali have also been let go by Vipers.

The pair, who are Kitende graduates have also found life hard at the senior team and have all lacked enough playing time.

Left back Disan Galiwango and attacking midfielder Ibrahim Orit all confirmed their departure on Tuesday.
