Denis Balungu Set for Third Stint at KIU Titans

National Basketball League side KIU Titans have re-signed forward Denis Balungu, our sources have gathered.

Balungu has been training with the Kansanga-based side and it’s expected that he will be used in the second round that tips off this Friday.

He left the side before the start of the 2022 season, and he is now set for a third stint at the Club.

Balungu, in his first spell, joined the side from LC Hovers in 2017 and spent three years in Kansanga.

Notably, he was part of the KIU Titans squad that reached the 2017 NBL finals before they were beaten by City Oilers.

He then moved to Power in February 2020, but never played competitive Basketball besides the UCU Invitational tournament that year, and the league was later cancelled due to Covid-19.

He made a return to KIU Titans in March 2021, and a few games into the regular season, the campaign was halted in June 3 by Covid-19 before FUBA finally cancelled the season.

And Balungu later left the Country for greener pastures.

KIU Titans finished the first round in second, with nine wins and two losses.

They will be in action on Wednesday, June 21 against JKL Dolphins in their first game of the NBL second round.

Did you know: Denis Balungu played for Goma Bulls, Mont Carmel and BC Wolves before leaving DR Congo to further his studies in Uganda.
