KCCA Confirm CAF Confederation Cup Participation

Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC have confirmed their participation in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup competition.

These new developments were made official via the club’s social media handles on Friday.

The statement from the club reads: “This is to inform all our stakeholders that #KCCAFC has today, sent in its confirmation to FUFA confirming participation in the CAF Confederation Cup for season 2023/24.”

The latest developments end all the speculations that the club had dropped the chance to go back to the continent.

The CAF Confederation Cup slot normally goes to the Uganda Cup winner, but after Vipers won a double, the second team in the league gets the first priority.

KCCA finished second in the league, giving them chance from the Federation represent the nation at the CAF Confederation competition next season.

It will be good news for KCCA FC, who last appeared on the continent way back in 2020.

Before being eliminated in 2020, KCCA had enjoyed a good stay on the continent in the previous years, under then Mike Mutebi, who saw them storm the CAF champions League group stages.

And they will be returning to the big stage, after a disappointing season, that saw them finish second, with their arc rivals Vipers, winning a double this season.

Currently, their interim coach Jackson Mayanja’s short spell ended and strong reports indicate that Sam Simbwa will be returning to the Lugogo based side as the head coach for next season.
