In the championship quarterfinals played in Entebbe, Western region teams suffered defeats, allowing Warriors and Elgon Wolves to secure their spots in the semifinals and keep in the fight to qualify for the 2024 Nile Special Premiership League.

Tooro Lions, the reigning champions of the western region VI league, faced a formidable opponent in Warriors, while Mbarara Titans took on eastern league champions, Elgon Wolves.

Both matches showcased fierce competition in the beginning, but unfortunately, the western region teams failed to emerge victorious in either of the fixtures as they lost composure during play.

Tooro Lions, following their strong performance in the western regional league season finale, were unable to overcome a resilient Warriors side. Even with an impressive start to the game in which they took the lead, the Lions fell short, losing to Warriors 16-41 in the end.

Similarly, earlier, Mbarara Titans faced a tough challenge against Elgon Wolves, and the match proved to be a one-sided affair.

The Titans were unable to match the speed and precision displayed by their Eastern-based opponents and ultimately struggled to contain the relentless attacks from the eastern champions, resulting in a lopsided scoreline of 3-55 in favour of the latter.

With their triumphs over the western region teams, Warriors and Elgon Wolves secured their places in the semifinals.

In the other quarterfinal games played at Makerere, the northern league champions—Gulu City Falcons, emerged triumphant over Njeru Hurricanes.

The Falcons overpowered their opponents with a final score of 31-10 to book their spot in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, the central league champions—Eagles, delivered a commanding and message sending performance against Lira Big Boys.

The Eagles soared to a resounding victory, crushing their opponents with an impressive 96-6 scoreline to cement their status as one of the top contenders in the qualifiers.

In the semifinals, Warriors, Elgon Wolves, Gulu City Falcons, and Eagles will face off in relentless pursuit of promotion into the prestigious 10-team Premiership Rugby League.
