Women Hockey: Weatherhead Fancy Chances Against Thunder

Table leaders Weatherhead (women) face bottom placed Thunder on Saturday in the National Hockey League looking to consolidate their position at the top of the table.

Like their mens side, Weatherhead (W) lead the table standings, but unlike their male counterparts, they do so by a difference of two points.

The side has accumulated 13 points thus far, two ahead of second placed Wananchi however, the latter has played a game less.

Weatherhead lead the table, but they haven’t been convincing on any front. They have scored just twelve goals with Anitah Atim scoring six of those, and on the other end, have conceded as many.

Their title rival meanwhile, have notched 41 while letting in only two.

They will head into this game knowing nothing but victory will keep them atop as Wananchi posses a superior goal difference.

Wananchi also do face another minnow in Weatherhead Historicals on the same day meaning their chances of claiming the top spot if Weatherhead slip up are higher.

Wananchi’s Doreen Mbabazi (16) and Norah Alum (10) top the scoring charts in the women’s division. They will be integral in Wananchi’s quest to reclaim the trophy.

Other fixtures in the women’s division will see defending champions Deliverance Church take on KHC on Sunday while Wananchi HDF will face Makerere.

Deliverance Church sit fourth in the table standings with eight points while KHC occupy the third position with 10.

Wananchi HDF are placed fifth while Makerere sit sixth.
