Nigeria got their FIFA U20 World Cup off to a good start thanks to a 2-1 win over Dominican Republic.

But the 1989 and 2005 winners needed to come from down before sealing all the maximum points.

The Flying Eagles conceded first just after 23 minutes through Captain Edison Azcona’s penalty.

Nigeria leveled matters through De Peno who flicked into his own net.

The Flying Eagles completed their comeback in the 70th minute when Samson Lawal scored a winner after a poor back pass.

In the other game where an African country was involved, Senegal was beaten 1-0 by Japan.

Kuryu Matsuki scored the all important goal with a left foot strike.

The Young Lions of Teranga will hope to make amends when they take on Israel on Wednesday.

The tournament is behind hosted by Argentina and Africa is represented by four countries including Gambia and Tunisia
