Red ball Cricket: Busowooko Posts 265/9 on Day One

The second edition of the Red ball four-day cricket and all white got underway on Monday at the Jinja SS Cricket Oval with the same two teams namely Itanda and Busowoko maintained.

Contrary to the inaugural one that had three games, this edition will see two games on a four-day format played. The tournament will majorly feature youngsters from the region, and Charles Waiswa, the sports director at East Enders Sports Hub, the organizers of this event says this is an opportunity to ‘test the mindsets’ of the players.

“The second edition is similar to the first one though less by one game and this format will help test the players’ mindset and physical fitness as we look to teach the players better skills and how to play the extended periods of time,” Waiswa, a former cricket cranes player said.

“We expect much improved cricket from the first edition and we call upon everyone to come support, enjoy and be part of the longer version of the game.”

Like earlier mentioned, the first match of this edition bowled off today and it will end on Thursday. Itanda won the toss and elected to bowl, and by the end of the first innings, Busoowoko had put 265 for 9.

Eddie Agaba who plays for Ceylon Lions in the national league knocked 120 off 108 balls while Hasan Bagaga had 51. This match resumes on Tuesday at the same ground.

The second match will get underway on May 22nd through to 26th.
