UCA T20: Aziz Damani Cruise With Double Header Win

The National Men’s T20 League returned on Sunday following a three week break, and it was business as usual for defending champions Aziz Damani.

Prior the break, Damani had lost one and won as many, both results coming against their B side Aziz Damani Development in a double header affair that was played in Lugogo. Upon the league return, they continued from where they left from with double header wins over Africa Cricket Club at the Green Oval in Entebbe.

Damani beat ACC by 7 runs in the morning game- a game that saw Riazat Ali Shah named the Player of the Match. Rizu, as he is well known by his mates scored 33 runs, the most by a Damani player to win that award.

Simon Ssesazi had 29 while Juma Miyaji (13) completed tbe double digit hitters for the defending champions, but it is ACC’s Ronald Lutaya who scored the most runs in that game- 45. Fred Achelam and Ronald Puwata had 15 and 14 respectively for their side. And in the bowling side, Damani’s Marvin Kitamirike picked four wickets- the most by any player.

The afternoon game was not as close as the morning one as Damani won it by 4 wickets. Kitamirike displayed a similar performance on his way to winning the Player of the Match award with four wickets to his name.

Here, Miyaji got the most runs for his team (45), while Riazat followed with 32. Ssesazi managed just 5 before being caught by Achelam from Ismail Munir’s bowling. Munir had two wickets including his leg before wicket dismissal of Raza Iqbal.

In the other league game that was played, Soroti City Cricket Club won by 3 wickets against KC Budo CC at tbe Jinja SS Oval.

Damani now dislodge their B side from the top of Group A. The side now leads with 10 points but have played two games more.
