We Had Own Ambitions – Mwebaze after Beating Vipers

Bright Stars head coach Asaph Mwebaze said that his side had their own ambitions following their victory over Vipers on Tuesday at Kavumba.

Mwebaze’s men picked a vital 1-0 win over the Venoms, thanks to Emmanuel Loki’s second half strike.

While addressing the pressmen after the game, Mwebaze was quick to admit that his side had ambitions of moving up on the table.

“My boys played well they gave their best. But even us, we had our own ambitions to finish in better positions since we have been struggling in relegation places, he told the pressmen.

It was a spirited performance from Bright Stars, who were playing against a side that had ambitions of going on top.

But throughout the entire game, they outplayed, denied them any chance to break their defence.

And Loki’s strike at the hour mark proved to be the only goal that shocked the Venoms at Kavumba.

“We needed this game since we had never picked any win against Vipers, we wanted to break that curse so my boys wanted it badly, Mwebaze added.

The win on Tuesday saw Bright Stars move to the 7th position with 35 points after 25 games.

And with three games left on their menu, Mwebaze says that they will fight till the end to finish in a better position.

“In our last games, we even have KCCA as the last fixture. So we need to win and we can even finish in the 5th position”

Following tuesday’s win over Vipers, Bright Stars will again meet with the same opponent in the semi finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup , in what is their only hope for silverware this season.
