Gulu City Falcons Edge Closer To Rugby Premier League

In the Northern region 15’s league playoff finals held at Lango College on Saturday 6th May, 2023, Guly City Falcons emerged victorious over Lira Big Boys with a score of 34-03 to clinch the Northern Region XV league championship title.

With their victory, the Falcons secured themselves a spot in the upcoming Nile Premier League qualification playoffs and joined Central champions Eagles and the Western champions Tooro Lions with the Eastern champions to be determined.

The playoffs will feature four teams, each representing the winners of the four regional leagues from across the country.

Each team will be drawn in a semifinal against one other team and the two winners from each fixture will face off in the final.

The ultimate winner from the final fixture will attain premiership status in the top tier 10-team Nile Special Rugby Premier League Season 2024.

The Nile Special Rugby Premier League is the pinnacle of Ugandan rugby as the top ten teams from across the country compete in the league.

The playoffs therefore offer an opportunity for the best teams from the regional leagues to prove themselves and earn a spot among the top-tier teams.

Northern – Gulu City Falcons
Western – Tooro Lions
Central – Eagles
Eastern – TBD
