KCCA: Coach Mayanja Blames Substitutes

KCCA FC interim coach Jackson Mayanja says that his substitutes didn’t do enough in their 2- all against Onduparaka.

Mayanja made those remarks after his side was held to a 2-all draw at home against relegation threatened side Onduparaka.

A late double from youngster Emmanuel Oketch denied the Lugogo based side maximum points, on a day they had dorminated throughout.

They had earlier taken the lead at the start of the second half through Moses Waiswa and Allan Okello before they squandered their lead.

While speaking after the game, Mayanja was quick to express his discontent with the team’s performance.

“We dorminated the game, had many chances but that’s the game of football, in the two minutes, its not normal to concede in such a way, he told the pressmen.

It was a frustrating day for KCCA, who had the game in their hands after going 2-0 ahead of the Caterpillars.

And with that scoreline, Mayanja introduced in Ashraf Mugume and Emmanuel Wasswa late in the game for Denis Iguma and Saidi Mayanja respectively.

But the KCCA gaffer believes that these two substitutes costed the team as they didn’t give enough.

“These players mostly those who came in didn’t do enough especially in the last minutes. I thought they could come in and bring in fresh legs because we have been having a very tight fixture.

Up next will be an away trip to rivals Vipers on Friday in what promises to be an entertaining fixture.

Despite Tuesday draw against Onduparaka, Mayanja believes that his Charges will bounce back at Kitende.

“We have to move on. We are going to Kitende and we want to pull something from there, we need to come back.”

The draw saw KCCA remain on 45 points, one below leaders SC Villa who will be visiting Maroons on wednesday at Luzira.
