The semifinals puzzle for the CAF Champions League is complete after the conclusion of the Quarterfinals on Saturday.

Holders Wydad Casablanca will meet 2016 winners Mamelodi Sundowns while record champions Al Ahly will meet Tunisian giants Esperance.

Esperance and Wydad will host the first legs on May 12/13 before the return legs in a week-time.

And the final will be played home and away – The first leg will be played on 4 June, and the second leg will be played on 11 June 2023.

Al Ahly are into the semifinals for a sixth consecutive time and had to hold on for a 0-0 draw with Raja.

The Egyptians won the first leg 2-0 in Cairo, while Raja who needed to overturn the result on Saturday, missed from the spot.

Their semifinal opponents Esperance on the other hand, progressed past Algerian side JS Kabylie on a 2-1 aggregate win.

Esperance won the first leg in Algeria before drawing 1-1 at home – Mohamed Ben Romdhane scored for the hosts before substitute Adem Redjem got one Kabylie.

Defending champions Wydad needed shootouts to oust Simba of Tanzania on Friday.

Wydad who lost 1-0 in Dar Es Salaam in the first leg, made amends through Bouly Sambou to win 1-0 and force penalty shootouts.

Goalkeeper Youssef El Motie was the hero, saving two penalties from Shomari Kapombe and Clatous Chama’s penalties as Wydad progressed.

And they will face Sundowns who progressed past Belouizdad of Algeria with a 6-2 aggregate victory.

Sundowns, home for Denis Onyango, had won 4-1 in Algeria before Saturday’s 2-1 comeback win.

Belouizdad went ahead through Sofiane Bouchar but Sundowns responded with a strike each from Themba ‘Mshishi’ Zwane and Thapelo Morena.
