NEC FC were denied maximum points following their goalless draw against Jinja North United on Thursday evening.
The game, held at Kakindu saw both sides fail to find a breakthrough throughout the entire game.
It was a big blow for NEC FC, who are eyeing promotional places this season.
They now dropped to the third position with 51 points, after 27 games in the season.
For jinja North United, they moved to 35 points in the 7th position and also extended their winless streak to four games.
The first half at Kakindu saw a few chances from both sides after a heavy down pour that limited easy flow of the ball.
But after the restart both sides tried to open up as they searched for an opener.
NEC FC captain Marvin Kavuma and inform forward Tonny Kiberu came close but were denied on different occasions.
