Maroons Detain UPDF in Luzira in Derby of Forces

Maroons held on to cruise past UPDF after a 1-0 victory at Luzira Prisons ground in the Startimes Uganda Premier League.

Amaku Fred’s first half strike was the difference as Maroons took home the Derby bragging rights.

The goal that came in the 19th minute is Amuka’ 10th of the season and moves him top of the scoring charts.

The victory ends Maroons three games winless run to pick their fourth win in eight second round matches.

This win is the first since 2016/2017 season against these two teams, their last three meetings had ended in draws. They have never scored more than one goal when they meet.

For UPDF they have now suffered two consecutive 1-0 defeats after a lose to Vipers.

It’s only their second defeat of the second round of the season.

The Army side are just three points above the relegation zone with a game more than 14-placed Blacks Power.

Maroons move to 8th on the log with 30 points after 22 matches while UPDF remain 13th with 22 points 23 matches.

Up Next

Maroons will take on URA at Mehta stadium on Saturday 29th while UPDF will host Blacks Power on Friday 28th.
