•Arua Hill 0-1 Vipers
•Bright Stars 1-1 Express
•Maroons 1-0 UPDF

Vipers edged Arua Hill in a rescheduled Uganda Premier League game at Barifa ground on Tuesday.

Abubakar Lawal scored the all important goal, his first in the league, just a minute after kickoff to help Vipers leave West Nile unscathed.

Arua Hill goalkeeper Rogers Omeddwa will feel he could have done better on the Lawal’s goal after letting in a tameable shot.

And the win moves Vipers (20 games) to 39 points, a point below KCCA (21 games) and four adrift of SC Villa (23 games).

It was a closely contested game, and both sides had a goal ruled out for offside.

Lawal’s effort was the first to be cancelled after Omeddwa had rushed out of his goal to meet a freekick.

And Innocent Media saw his goal also ruled out in the second half when he scored with flick off a low delivery from Isaac Ogwang.

Rashid Toha saw his long range freekick kept out by goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora and the hosts sieged in Vipers half for most of the game.

And they thought they had levelled it late only for Vipers to make a goal-line clearance.

Milton Karisa had two good chances in the second half, including a flying header that rattled the woodwork off Dissan Galiwango’s cross.

It’s a big win for Vipers who return to winning ways after drawing 1-1 at home against URA in their previous fixture.

And the victory will be a motivation ahead of the next crucial fixture against SC Villa at Wankulukuku this Saturday.

The Venoms complete a league double over Arua Hill having won the reverse fixture 1-0 at Kitende thanks to Milton Karisa’s goal.
