Preview: Bright Stars Seek Back to Back Wins as Express Visit

Bright Stars will be hoping for back to back wins when they welcome Express at Kavumba on Tuesday.

The Hosts picked a hard fought 1-0 win over Onduparaka away from home in their latest game last week, thanks to Emmanuel Loki’s strike.

Before that win, Asaph Mwebaze’s men had suffered four straight losses that saw them drop to lower echelons on the table standings.

And the home game against Express FC presents them with another chance to pick up needed points.

The task at hand for Bright Stars is to finish in a better position as they seek to end the season on a high note.

They are currently 10th with 27 points, but just eight points above the red zone and will need to play each game like a final to avoid the relegation dog fight.

Another big factor is that they beat the same side in the reverse fixture at Wankulukuku and that will drive them to stage a better performance against Express on Tuesday.

On the other hand, the Visitors, Express will be seeking for a fourth consecutive league win when they take a visit to Kavumba.

The Red Eagles, despite their shocking exit from the Uganda Cup have been brilliant in their last three league games, winning all of them.

And their latest was a 3-0 home win against Busoga United last week at Wankulukuku. They previously beat BUL and Onduparaka.

That win saw them move to ninth position with 28 points after 21 games.

After Uganda Cup exit, Express will finish with nothing to show in terms of silverware this season and are hoping for better placements at least on the league table.

Nelson Senkatuka scored a brace as Bright Stars picked a 2-0 win over Express in the reverse fixture held at Wankulukuku in November last year, and the Striker, on 49 goals for the Club, is still chasing for one more to reach his much awaited milestone.

Stats

  • Bright Stars are currently 10th on the log with 27 points after 21 games.

  • For Express, they are in the 9th position with 28 points collected from 21 games as well.
