The Uganda National Netball Team, the She Cranes, returned to training on Monday in Kamwokya.
This is the first training session since Netball Federation President Sarah Babirye Kityo was ordered to step aside.
Babirye, out of office for three months, will be investigated on issues not limited to Sexual Harassment, Players welfare and Accountability.
The She Cranes are yet to receive Government funding for preparations for the World Cup as they enter the second week of non-residential training.
However, during a meeting that decided on Babirye’s fate on Friday at State House in Nakasero, the First Lady asked NCS to find ways to provide for the team.
All 27 local based players who were summoned, have now reported in camp after Nassaazi Bashira (UCU) and Shaffie Nalwanja (KCCA) reported on Monday.
Two other players however excused themselves from Monday’s session due to personal reasons.
“Two players requested to be absent today, one has gone to collect her ID while the other has gone to the University to finalize some issues,” She Cranes coach Fred Mugerwa said on Monday.
“We are now working at coordination and trying to understand how to play with each other.
“We have to put a lot of effort on our defence because we normally concede goals unnecessary so we are going to work on that.”
The World Cup due July 28-August 6 in Cape Town South Africa, will see the She Cranes return to the stage for a third consecutive appearance.
