FUBA Overturns NBL Result After Use of Ineligible Player

FUBA Competitions Council has reversed Miracle Eaglets’ win over Nabisunsa Girls, this website has learnt.

The Eaglets beat Nabisunsa 72-64 on April 10 in the Women NBL at Lugogo.

But FUBA has since established that Miracle Eaglets used an ineligible player, and have gone on to update the result to 20-00 on the FUBA website in favour of Nabisunsa.

“The result stands as a win for Nabisunsa for now,” FUBA Vice President Administration Hudson Ssegamwenge told The-SportsNation on Wednesday morning.

“Miracle used an ineligible player in that game. But that can change because they have lodged in an appeal and a final decision will be made.”

Efforts to reach Miracle Eaglets have been futile.

The-SportsNation has since established that the said player is youngster Mariam Namukwaya, who made her top flight debut this season on the day.

Namukwaya who also featured for the Junior Gazelles last year, finished with 3 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists against Nabisunsa.

If Miracle is still found guilty of using a player who was not fully registered on appeal, the 20-00 loss will stand.

But it remains to be established if the team will lose the second round game (against the same opponent) automatically.

Miracle who face JT Lady Jaguars on Wednesday, beat KIU Rangers 57-51 and lost to KCCA Leopards and Magic Stormers.

Nabisunsa on the other hand, beat Nkumba Lady Marines and lost 64-66 to JT Lady Jaguars.
