World Rugby Challenger Series: Uganda Learn Group Opponents

Men’s Pools

A – Belgium, Germany, Tonga, Zimbabwe

B – Chile, Hong Kong, Italy, Papua New Guinea

C – Brazil, Jamaica, Korea, Uganda


Uganda has been drawn in Pool C together with Brazil, Korea and Jamaica in the upcoming World Rugby challenger series set to take place in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

Having come off second behind Germany in the previous edition held in Chile and finishing 6th in overall tournament rankings, the lot will be looking at bettering their chances in the 2023 campaign kicking off this Thursday 20th April, 2023.

They open their campaign against South American side-Brazil, at 11.28am EAT before taking on Jamaica at 2.32pm EAT.

Their final pool game will be played against Korea on Friday 21st April, 2023 at 11.38am EAT.

The games will be played in Markötter Stadium, Stellenbosch, South Africa.

The top two from each pool, as well as the two best third-placed finishers will qualify for the knockout stages.

The quarter finals and semi-final matches will lead to the bronze and gold medal matches.

What’s in it for the teams?

For the women, the winner of the competition will secure themselves a Sevens World Series entry.

And for the men, the winner will enter a four-team play-off at the HSBC London Sevens in May 2023.

And the winner of the play-off will achieve the coveted Sevens World Series 2024 status.
