Vipers: Alex Isabirye Lauds Two Players after Win Over Calvary

Vipers head coach Alex Isabirye Musongola has praised his forwards Yunus Sentamu and Abubaker Lawal for their brilliant performance on Friday.

The two players scored a brace each as the Venoms picked a comfortable 4-1 win over Calvary to storm the semifinals of the ongoing Stanbic Uganda Cup.

While addressing the pressmen after the game, Isabirye went on to praise the two heroes of the day for their spirited performance.

“Yunus is improving game by game and it really makes me happy. It’s not just that he scored two goals but he has been brilliant in the past games, his energy even from training,” Isabirye said.

“For Lawal, that boy is amazing. You know he is fasting but he can play anywhere on the pitch, I’m really impressed with him.”

It was a deserved win for Vipers, who looked brilliant throughout the entire game.

They got off the mark in style in the 9th minute through Sentamu, who scored a beautiful free kick.

And they added on two quick goals through Lawal 16th minute and Sentamu 19th before Lawal sealed it later with the 4th goal via a spot kick in the second half.

“The goals didn’t come by accident, they were planned and beautiful. So if you are a coach and you try to train your players to score and they do it that way, seriously you go back home and rest, Isabirye added.

Victory on friday ensured that Vipers reached the semi finals of this year’s Uganda Cup.

They joined Police FC on this stage, who earlier ejected defending champions BUL FC this week.

And now Isabirye, who won this trophy last year while at BUL will be seeking to guide his new side to their third consecutive final as they target silverware this season.
