Byekwaso Blames Players For UPDF Draw

KCCA FC head coach Morely Byekwaso has blamed his players for lack of concentration in their 1-all draw against UPDF on Sunday.

The Kasasiro Boys were held at home in their first ever night game at the Omondi stadium in Lugogo.

Substitute Tshisungu Kankonde had put KCCA ahead in the 57th minute and they were on course to pick maximum points.

But UPDF’s left back Daglas Oyirwoth scored at the death to deny Byekwaso’s men all the three points.

While addressing the press after the game, Byekwaso said that his players lacked enough concentration in added minutes.

“We thought that It was over because the referee had added three minutes, we played one and didn’t concentrate that much and we conceded in that terrible moment where we couldn’t come back.”

Byekwaso also blamed his players for failing to do their job of taking away chances.

“I don’t know why they missed chances. But lack of concentration and effectiveness which is about the players to know that they must take away chances and avoid the pressure.”

It was another poor outing for KCCA, who have now drawn three consecutive games.

Before Sunday’s game, KCCA had picked a 1-1 draw against Maroons and Blacks Power.

And now, Byekwaso, who is under pressure has called upon his players to show character in the upcoming fixtures if they are to be champions.

“We need to find a way of coming back if we want to be champions. We have so far lost six points (in last three games).

“We need to start winning each game we are facing. But once you wait to win when the league is ending, it will be difficult.”

The draw left KCCA in second position with 38 points, five below leaders SC Villa, who have played two games more.

They will visit URA FC on wednesday April 19th at the Mehta Stadium in Lugazi.
