•Wakiso Giants 1-3 SC Villa
•Vipers 2-0 Blacks Power

SC Villa tightened their grip on top of the log with a determined 3-1 win against Wakiso Giants at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Wakissha.

Villa showed character and resolve as they needed to recover from a goal down after Shariph Kimbowa had put the hosts ahead early in the game.

Umar Lutalo scored a dramatic equaliser to level matters before the break, and Charles Bbaale scored a second half brace to ignite celebrations from the travelling fans.

And the win puts Villa to 43 points, six above KCCA who still have three games in hand including a home tie against UPDF on Easter Sunday.

Kimbowa got the Purple Sharks in the lead just under six minutes when he received from Marvin Mukiibi before directing a powerful effort past Martin Elungat in goal.

But the Jogoos remained unfazed, and cheered on by a sizeable crowd, besieged in Wakiso’s half in search for an equaliser.

They got a beauty when Lutalo rifled into the roof. And with the ball bouncing in and out from net, the referee needed to first consult his assistants before pointing to the centre.

Bbaale then scored a quick brace in the space of seven minutes to put the game to bed.

The first came in the 51st minute after Wakiso Giants lost possession in their own half.

He scored at the far end with his left foot for the second, a goal that all but ended Wakiso’s comeback hopes.

The win extended Villa’s winning run to six games as coach Jackson Magera continues to defy odds.

Wakiso Giants on the other hand, have lost five in a row in the league and slipped to ninth with 26 points after 21 games.

The win also handed Villa an opportunity to avenge for their loss in reverse fixture at Wankulukuku, where fans misbehaved that ignited the FUFA ban to deduct two points and Stadium hosting ban.

What Next – Wakiso Giants visit Gaddafi on April 18 while Villa will welcome Arua Hill on April 19 at Wankulukuku.
