Ten-man Express Hold On To Overcome BUL

Saturday 8th April
BUL 1-2 Express

Ten-man Express cruised past BUL in the Startimes Uganda Premier League lunch time kickoff at FUFA Technical Centre Njeru.

First half goals from Boban Zirintusa and Anwar Ntege inspired the Red Eagles to a 2-1 victory at BUL.

Goalkeeper Abdul Kimera scored a late own goal for BUL in the added minutes after Ntege was sent off.

Simeone Masaba coached side has now lost four of the seven games in the second round, drawing the other three.

Express on the otherside has turned fortunes around after registering back to back victories.

It took Express just 11 minutes to find the breakthrough after Zirintusa headed home an Allan Kayiwa corner kick.

The hosts could have levelled matters but Goalkeeper Abdul Kimera stood firm to stop Samuel Ssekamatte’s free header.

Ntege doubled the visitor’s lead in the 34th minute off Arthur Kiggundu free kick.

The second half was a bit cagey compared to the first as the Visitors tried to protect their lead.

The visitors were reduced to ten men in the 59th minute when Ntege was shown marching orders after a foul on Richard Ayiko.

Despite the numerical advantage, the hosts failed to capitalise on it to find their way back into the game.

However, they got a consolation in the 95th minute when Kimera conceded an own goal.

The goal came too late for the hosts to spark a comeback.

The victory moves Express to 10th with 25 points in 20 matches while BUL remain third for a mean time with 30 points after 21 matches.
