Wakiso: Buddo Beat Kitende to Defend Title

Buddo SS beat St. Mary’s Kitende in their 2-1 victory to defend the Wakiso district football trophy in the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) qualifiers held at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Saturday.

Goals from Joseph Kizza and Denis Kisiriko ensured that Buddo picked a deserved win on the day.

Abdul Nsereko scored for St. Mary’s Kitende as they lost on the day.

It was the third consecutive time that Buddo was beating Kitende on this final. They beat them 5-4 on penalties in 2019, beat them in 2022 as well before doing the same on Saturday.

The two sides, just like the previous years have been brilliant dorminating the Wakiso Region and it wasn’t a surprise to reach the finals this year.

To reach this year’s final, St. Mary’s Kitende eliminated Kawempe Royal College by 4-2 in penalties after a normal time 1-1 draw while Buddo also needed shootouts to beat Standard High Zana 5-3 on penalties.

And Kitende, who are the defending champions of the national Boys schools championship will be seeking to bounce back at the big stage.

Buddo SS, Kitende, London College, STAHIZA and Kawempe Royal College will now represent Wakiso district at the upcoming USSSA National Schools boys football championship to be held at Nyakasura School in Fort-Portal City, Kabalore district.

Elsewhere in the girls final, Taggy High school edged st. Noa Girls by 1-0 in the finals held at Kabaka Kyabagu Stadium earlier on Saturday.

Forward Kamiyat Nayigaga scored the all important goal of the game as her side walked away with smiles.

And now, Taggy, St. Noa, Rines, Wakiso Hill, Fairway High School, Aiden College and God Cares qualified for USSSA Fresh Diary Games to be held in Mbarara.
